Introduction to Fuel System of Diesel Generator Set

The fuel system of a diesel generator set consists of a fuel tank, fuel transfer pump, filter, etc. When the diesel engine is working, the fuel transfer pump draws fuel from the fuel tank and sends it to the fuel filter. After filtering, it enters the fuel injection pump. The fuel pressure is increased in the fuel injection pump, and according to the required fuel supply for different working conditions, it is delivered to the injector through the high-pressure fuel pipe, and finally forms a mist like emulsion combustion chamber through the fuel injection hole. The excess fuel supplied by the fuel pump is returned to the fuel tank through the return pipe of the fuel filter, and a small amount of fuel flowing out of the top return pipe of the injector also flows back to the fuel tank.

The function of a fuel tank is to store fuel, and it is generally made by stamping and welding steel plates. Its capacity should usually be able to meet the needs of 8-10 hours of diesel engine operation. The oil outlet should be higher than the drain outlet to allow impurities in the fuel to settle at the bottom of the tank. The top of the fuel tank has a refueling port and a vent hole, and a filter is installed at the refueling port to ensure the cleanliness of the oil. The vent hole is used to ensure that the internal space of the fuel tank is connected to the atmosphere, in order to prevent the pressure drop inside the fuel tank caused by the decrease in oil level during operation, which affects normal fuel supply.
