1. The determination of the capacity of commonly used silent diesel generators should be based on the long-term continuous operation output power of the unit that can meet the maximum calculated load of the entire project, and the standby unit capacity of the generator set should be determined according to the importance of the load. The continuous output power of a diesel engine is generally 0.9 times the calibrated power.
2. Determination of the number of commonly used silent diesel generators. The setting of the number of commonly used silent diesel generators is usually 2 or more to ensure the continuity of power supply and adapt to changes in the electricity load curve. Only with a large number of units can the number of generators to be put into operation be determined based on changes in electricity load, so that diesel engines often operate under economic loads to reduce fuel consumption and lower power generation costs. The optimal economic operating state of a diesel engine is between 75% and 90% of its rated power. To ensure the continuity of power supply, commonly used units should consider setting up backup units. When conducting unit fault maintenance or shutdown inspections, the generator unit should still be able to provide uninterrupted power supply to important electrical loads.
